Black History Poems
"Untitled"
Emily Robles
A month to celebrate, honor, and remember people who fought for civil rights,
Oh wow, how I’ve learned all about those fights,
In moments of darkness, white people would fright
But black people made it bright, by fighting back on these nights.
Rosa Parks, Martin Dr. Luther King Jr., Harriet Tubman,
Fought for the civil rights of black women and men
They won, They won, we can do things without fear!
Now is a tale I hear every year
During February it is in everybody's ears.
"Dreams"
Genesis Rodriguez
They come in different forms
It can be big or small
It is a call
That comes for all
All dreams are shared
When it comes to fighting for rights
All those sleepless nights
To go up to the heights
To fight all in all
All these years of fighting
Has allowed change
In exchange for smiles
It goes on the files
For it to forever be remembered
How their dreams
Became reality!
