"Remember Me"
Benedicta Pokua
Remember me, for I was once the slave who was kept in a cage
Remember me, for I was the one who warned the younger generation about the white man
Remember Me! For I was whipped and stipped for not replying to the name that was given to
me
Remember Me! For I was forced to be separated from my mammy and pappy
Remember Me! For I needed to be at the plantation from 5 in the morning to 9 at night
REMEMBER ME! For without me, you will forget the past
"Beauty"
Benedicta Pokua
The wind blows
As her fluffy afro flows
People stare as the young girl combs her hair.
Beauty is what she's called as the people glare.
Sounds from the north and east scream BEAUTY!!
Because of her big fluffy hair.
