Summer Activities
Drifting
Lenore Hetrick
Drifting down a sleepy stream
In a red canoe!
Underneath the water green,
Up above the blue.
For pleasure and for quiet fun
What better could you do?
Drifting down a sleepy stream
With the world so still
Past the birch trees in the hollow,
Past the old sawmill,
Past a little waterfall,
Past a little hill!
There are souls who like to frolic
In a lively way.
There are others who climb mountains
On a sunny day.
But drifting down a sleepy stream
Is always just my way!
Summer Brings Us
Robin Zalaya
Summer brings us days on a beach
Wearing flip flops
And sand between your toes
Long long days, filled with sun
And sunscreen on your nose
Splashing in pools, friends all around
Wearing bathing clothes
Trees full of leaves, the humming of bees
Vacation cars on the road
Days of heat, nights so warm
Riding down a river that flows
Summer brings us watermelon seeds
Ice cream drips
And watching how the sunset glows.
